Life has its bumps, but there's always a bit of magic to find 🌞

Life can feel heavy sometimes, right?

The more you scroll social media and the more you read the news, the more things might seem a little helpless and hopeless.

Is the answer to shut out the news and forget what’s happening around us? Definitely not.

But sometimes, it’s important to step back and take stock of the good things in life.

Yes, life can be tough, and unpredictable. And honestly, maybe sometimes it feels like there’s not much to be positive about.

BUT… and this is a big but…

Even the smallest, most teeny tiny seemingly insignificant things can be something to smile about.

Like… pulling the biggest, crunchiest, most flavour-packed chippie out of the packet.

Like… turning the pages in a new book.

Like… when the slow car in front of you moves into the left lane so you can zip past.

It's often the little things we overlook that can shift our perspective. By taking a moment to appreciate the good around us, no matter how big or small, we can change our entire day – and our entire life.

As Neil Pasricha from the 1000 Awesome Things blog says – pretend you’re a 3-year-old seeing the world for the first time and you’ll quickly start to notice how truly magical life can be.

Give it a go: spend a day or a week spotting life's little wonders. And if you need some inspiration, the Nakie team has a few suggestions to get you started.

  • The smell of fresh bread as you walk by a bakery
  • Dancing in the kitchen to your favourite song
  • Sleeping in fresh bed sheets just out of the dryer (bonus points if you’ve just shaved your legs)
  • A smile from a stranger
  • Finding your lost keys after searching for an eternity
  • The smell of freshly ground coffee
  • The smell in the air after it rains
  • Absurdly wonderful celebrity baby names
  • A big back-cracking stretch
  • Looking bangin’ after walking out of the hairdresser
  • Singing happy birthday to your dog and watching them wag their tail furiously even though they have no idea what’s happening
  • Filling up your car just before petrol prices rise
  • A clear inbox
  • That first drink of water after a long, sweaty run
  • Diving under a wave
  • Coming home to your dog
  • Waking up before your alarm and not being tired
  • Waking up super early to get to the airport before a huge adventure
  • Walking around your home naked when you’re alone
  • A hug from your best friend
  • When someone holds the elevator for you as you rush to make it
  • When the bus driver closes the doors and sees you running and waving so opens them for you again
  • Dropping your phone and realising it didn’t smash or even get a scratch
  • Talking yourself out of a parking ticket
  • Being healthy again after being sick
  • Being on a boat and waving at other people on a boat as they pass
  • Seeing a dog or cat chase its tail
  • When you have an eyelash that’s fallen out and someone notices, picks it up off your face and tells you to make a wish
  • Thick choccie milkshakes
  • Getting to the end of a bag of lollies, thinking there’s no more, and finding that there’s a couple left
  • Just making a traffic light before it goes orange

See? Small and magical things happen around us all the time. You just have to make sure you’re paying attention.

Keep on keepin’ on – you got this! 🤙🏻
